Spring, Easter, and the Flower Communion

3/27/2016

The coming of spring and the Easter season brings hope -- they bring warm temperatures again, re-birth and new growth after winter, and new life.  And nothing symbolizes this season like flowers!  This morning we will speak of the meaning of this season and we will share the tradition of the Flower Communion, originated by Rev. Norbert Capek, a Unitarian minister who lived in Prague in the last century.

All are invited to bring blooms and flowers to contribute to the Flower Communion and to participate in this traditional service.  All are also invited to bring any seeds, bulbs, cuttings or starter plants to share with others in this season of new planting and new growth!

We will have a few eggs as well as sweets to share at coffee hour!

Join us for this joyous springtime service!

I was thirsty and you gave me drink....Matthew 25:35. According to Catholic Relief Services, "each day, 783 million people do not have access to clean water" (http://www.crs.org ).  Rev. Wil Howie will give us a snapshot of the world-wide water crisis and he will tell us what the organization Living Waters for the World is doing to address this massive 21st century threat, one community at a time.
Rev. Wil Howie, who recently retired, has served as Executive Director for Living Waters for the World. Now he works as their volunteer Ambassador, helping Living Waters for the World serve as a resource to churches and service organizations. He helps train and equip people with the skills necessary to bring clean water to those in need throughout the world.    Please join us!
