Is it Worth the Risk?  - Rev. Edie Love - Sunday, July 28, 2019

I'd like to speak about finally living into your dreams. Should we take that chance we've been dreaming of ? Why or why not?
Reverend Love is a Unitarian Universalist who feels her calling is to work towards love and justice. She was recently ordained by the Tupelo congregation in a cathedral of trees in her beloved Memphis.
She holds a bachelor of liberal studies in social and racial justice, and a masters degree in divinity. She believes all people are her people, the streets are her parish, and everywhere we are, we are standing on holy ground. I'd like to speak about finally living into your dreams. Come this morning to hear voices from this summer’s annual gathering of  Unitarian Universalists and join in the conversation about ‘The Power of We,’ the theme for the 2019 GA!

UUA President Susan Frederick-Gray and key leaders speak about the issues of today!  Over 2600 delegates and attendees consider ‘the power of we’: what does it mean to be part of an intentional covenanted community and how are we more powerful when we act out of such a community?

The power of video and and our own voices will carry this morning at UUCO!

"Intention" - Sunday, July 7, 2019

7/6/2019

We will begin our July 7 service with a brief introduction to our month's theme: intention.  We'll look at the word and how we and others have used it, in preparation for services later in the month that will explore the idea of intention more deeply.  Our main intention, though, is to enjoy a post-Independence Day potluck together!  Bring something to share with others, if you can; the most important thing to bring is you.  You can contact Dinorah Sapp at dsapp@yahoo.com to get more details.

What does it mean to be a people of intention?

7/6/2019

Coming from the Latin word, intentionem, intention literally means a stretching out, a stretching out of mind, of heart, of body, of spirit. When we set an intention, we are turning our attention toward something, or someone, or some idea, and stretching out to meet it. That feels very appropriate for a faith that is covenantal, that lifts of principles as our guiding lights. We set intention on how we want to be together and how we want to be in the world.  Intention “pulls us into” who we truly are.  And to set intentions we need to listen, collectively and individually to our inner voices.  What is your intention for this week, this month, this year?    And what is our intention?
